Radio Dublin continued broadcasting in 1989 in defiance of a new law threatening huge fines and possible imprisonment for anyone involved with a pirate broadcast. The authorities had also indicated that they would cut power supply and phone lines being used by any pirate who was on the air after December 31st 1988.
This recording is from Radio Dublin on the morning of January 19th 1989. It ends abruptly – reasons explained in that afternoon’s newspapers.
