CBC (Clonmel Broadcasting Corporation) were based at Westgate, Clonmel in Co Tipperary. The station first appeared on November 14th 1981 and was a good mixture of Irish, Folk, Celtic rock and Community radio – unlike the vast majority of mid-Atlantic style ‘entertainment’ that passed for so-called radio at the time.
CBC was logged on 98.9MHz and 362Mtrs in 1983, with a relay on 199mtrs serving Carrick-on-Suir.
Over 100 volunteers, along with a handful of part-time and full-time staff, contributed on the air.
