COMMUNITY RADIO WEXFORD

Community Radio Wexford launched in April 1982 and broadcast from George St in Wexford.

The station was formed by Dominic Kiernan, Pat Murphy and Alan Corcoran. The three men had been involved with WCLR which closed just weeks earlier.

They were logged on 97.6MHz and 300Mtrs in 1983.

Still on air in August 1987, they were then broadcasting on 101.4MHz and 999kHz.

Numbered amongst their on air staff was Dominic Kiernan – Wexford’s Lord Mayor!

The station closed, along with the rest of the nation’s pirates, at the end of December 1988. The final programme ever aired on the station was a broadcast of a Mass ceremony.
