Cork Local Radio was RTÉ’s local optout service which launched in 1974 on 729kHz and 89MHz. It was the first time there had been a dedicated RTÉ service since the demise of 6CK in 1930.

In 1989 the station relaunched as Cork 89FM on its FM frequency only.
