Downtown Radio

DOWNTOWN RADIO

Downtown Radio was a pirate radio station which was based in Capel Street in Dublin city which launched in May 1979 on 260m. It was formed by a number of people who had been formally involved with East Coast Radio from Walkinstown. Downtown closed in September 1979 and was replaced by Radio City.

Joe King built the Downtown transmitter. This is him working on it and with friends.
The same transmitter was used for Radio City.
