Dublin dance pirate station DMR FM
Space FM, Fantasy FM
DMR FM were a short-lived Dublin dance music service of the early noughties. Their previous incarnations were Space FM and the short-lived Fantasy FM. Space FM played continuous dance music to the west of Dublin on 107.0FM and Fantasy FM tested for a few weeks in June of 2000 on 106.9FM.
A change of frequency and a new name later, DMR FM started broadcasting an automated mix of dance music on August 1st 2000 on 93.2MHz FM. However, problems with the frequency – namely that it was already home to another low-powered station – resulted in DMR seeking out a new frequency, moving to 97.8MHz FM in December of that year.
There were dramatic improvements in audio and output quality from the early dire audio. A new jingles package from the USA, introduced in January 2001, also laid to rest earlier embarrassments on the ident front. Occasional live broadcasts then appeared, but the station went off the air altogether in mid-2001..
