ELECTION RADIO 1982
On February 15th 1982 a signal appeared on 102FM in Dublin. Incredibly, the next day, the station announced itself as Election Radio 1982 – just two days before a General Election. The station’s location was, even more incredibly. the Fianna Fáil campaign headquarters.
The person behind the station turned out to be Eamon Cooke of Radio Dublin, who was acting on the basis of promises made that FF would look favourably on the unlicensed stations if elected.
