Hot FM underwent a few personality changes in its 4 years on air in the naughties. It first appeared as an automated service in May 2000 on 99.1MHz FM. By June they had lost 99.1, and were now on 88.1MHz FM & 99.4MHz FM. They introduced live programming on June 26th that year. By July they had also vacated 88.1MHz.
At this point the station had a professional air, and an exciting line-up. However, presenters started defecting and one, in particular, bought the owners out and imposed his own style over proceedings. Frank Kennedy took over the station and made it mainly a vehicle for his own personal promotions, and with extra long commercial breaks, the station went in a particular direction.
The station ceased broadcasting in July 2004 only to return in 2018.
