SUNSET RADIO
Sunset Radio was a Dublin-based youth station which broadcast between spring 1991 and summer 1994 on 106.8MHz. It started on low power as KHTR. First broadcasts appeared on weekends only on 103.1FM, then 103.2FM, before they settled on their famous 106.8MHz by the end of 1991.
To begin with music policy catered for many tastes. However, the growing dance scene dictated that the station should follow trends and by mid 1992 ‘Dublin’s Dance Music Factory’ had also gone 7 days a week.
In the summer of 1994, the by-now hugely popular station had attracted the attention of the authorities and several raids eventually saw the station making an infamous final broadcast from Three Rock Mountain.
