The Soundchannel

THE SOUND CHANNEL

The Sound Channel broadcast from O’Connell St in Limerick and launched in December 1986. It started as an amateurish operation but very quickly became a professional service thanks to a high reinvestment turnover. The station carried IRN News and the Nova Night Network, which helped it become a 24 hour station.

July 1988 saw the appointment of Simon Parry as deputy Operations Manager, and this led to a relaunch as Power 98, with a new adult music format .
