Launched on 103.5MHz on April 29th 1985, Magic 103 was part of the Nova Network of radio stations and offered an easy listening music mix in the mid ’80s. The station was on air for a few months during 1985, going off air with little fuss at the end of September. Initially only on FM an AM transmitter was later added on 1521kHz. As a direct antidote to the main station, Magic 103 broadcast easy listening and specialist music programming, with plenty of speech and current affairs. It was located at 144 Upper Leeson Street. When it closed, Chris Cary called it ‘The End of the Experiment’.
