Radio Clonmel

Radio Clonmel

Radio Clonmel first appeared on 220metres in August 1978.

Brendan O’Mahoney, who was the owner of the Clonmel Express weekly newspaper, bought a transmitter and began broadcasting in the town.

It was usually on air for 4-6 hours each day, sometimes broadcasting for a lot less.

The station played a mix of music including pop, new wave, rock and traditional.

Technical difficulties led to its closure in March 1979.
