Jam to Return to Dublin

Jam FM plan a return to the airwaves this weekend with tests on both 91.0MHz & 97.8MHz. They have been off air due to complaints concerning interference to CKR FM on 97.6MHz despite only using a 20 watt transmitter which they plan to use on a lower site hoping to avoid the same problems. The station will also be running tests on shortwave using the frequency 6490khz and are requesting feedback at studio@jamfm.com.

Jam Sags

Jam FM were not testing at the weekend due to unforeseen circumstances. They plan to be on air this weekend on 97.8MHz and 91.0MHz as well as shortwave frequency 6490kHz.
Email for feedback: studio@jamfm.com.

Jazz Off

Jazz FM is presently off air. Yesterday there was hiss and static on their signal and it has transpired that their link aerial has been knocked out of shape. Unfortunately they cannot at present gain access to their transmitter site and they hope to be back on air a.s.a.p. which will probably be some time on Monday.

Jazz FM broadcast to Dublin on 89.8MHz and recently celebrated 5 years on air. This is their first break in programming for over 3 years.

Also off for periods today were Power FM and Kiss FM due to power problems at the transmitter sites.

Medium Jack

Dublin oldies station Jack FM can now be heard on 1395kHz on the medium wave band in addition to their 88.1MHz FM outlet.

No Charges for Pirate Broadcasts

A man who allowed two unlicensed stations to broadcast from his premises has had the charges against him dismissed in Dublin’s District Court.

Anthony Hogarty, who is unemployed at the age of 60, allowed Sun FM and Jack FM to send a signal to his Sandyford-based premises where he used his own apparatus to re-broadcast their signals over the city. He had been warned to stop by ComReg but continued to broadcast despite claiming he received no money for doing so.

Judge Anne Watkin, after hearing he had no previous convictions and that he had a number of medical problems, dismissed the charges under the Probation Act.
