From the final day of broadcast for all of Ireland’s pirate stations in 1988 before new legislation kicked in, this is the last six hours on air from K.I.T.S., based in Monaghan.
Dublin pirate K.I.C. FM from Christmas morning 2000. The recording starts at 11.22am and is off 104.0MHz FM.
This (edited) recording – which was broadcast on The Anorak Hour – features John Leonard on air for the station’s low-powered return following a raid on their transmission site almost a week earlier on June 1st.
The broadcast was facilitated by a makeshift aerial erected at the station’s studio location in Dublin city centre. A second raid on the studio site took the station off the air altogether.
