2TY3 (May 10th 2010)

From May 2010 this is a recording of the first day’s programming on FM for 2TY3, a school project radio station based in Leitrim which had previously been internet only.

The station, which was based in Carrick-on-Shannon Community School, received a 30 hour temporary community licence which they split over two weeks, broadcasting for three hours daily.

On this first day on air, they ran a special introduction programme from 7.10pm, stretching the broadcast to four hours.

Following the untimely death of Ronan O’Rahilly, RTÉ Radio 1’s flagship Morning Ireland show invited radio historian Eddie Bohan on to talk about Radio Caroline and Ronan’s legacy .
