This is a recording of the final day of programming from the first temporary licence run for Choice FM, an easy listening station broadcasting to Dublin on 92.1MHz which was operated by Kevin Branigan.
Amongst the programmes on this Sunday was a countdown of the ‘All-Time Top 100 Easy Listening Songs’ compiled from votes from the station’s listeners.
Thanks to the popularity of Choice FM a new full-time licence for an easy listening was advertised and awarded to 4FM (Now Classic Hits).
From midnight it’s Retro Romance
Listen to the midday to midnight programming in two separate blocks or listen to the individual shows
From midday Garv Rigby and Steven Davitt continue the Top 100 countdown
More from the Chart at 2pm with John Power and Lisa Jolie
From 4pm Ian Garland and Kevin Branigan count down to the number 1.
At 6pm Éamon Carr presents Carr’s Cocktail Shack
The show is a celebration of lounge and cocktail jazz from across the decades and features the ‘Cocktail de Jour’ – Éamon’s own choice of cocktail, which he then makes live on air each week!
Presenter Éamon Carr says, “My wish is to present some music that is largely ignored by contemporary music criticism. I would like to share some tunes that may (or may not) evoke lava lamps, fishnet stockings, faux rabbit-pelt bar stools and the psycho-sexual boom boom experienced by the desk clerk in the motel, the one with the pink and blue neon, at the end of Lonely Street. It may be termed easy, but the beat goes on. Oh, and along the way, we’ll explore the coolest way to kick-start a party – cocktails.”
From 7pm it’s Sunday Jazz with Des Fitzgerald
From 9pm Chris Young is on air
Finally at 11pm Kevin Branigan wraps up the temporary run
