INDEPENDENT RADIO LONGFORD


IRL, or Independent Radio Longford, had been on air for two years when a new broadcasting act forced all the pirates off the air in December 1988.

Music was mainly MOR and pop, with some country music programmes airing off peak.

The station was first based at 2 Ballymahon Street, later at New Street.

Frequencies were 99FM; 101FM; 347mtrs MW

The station was founded by Gerry Conboy (pictured in the studio).
