Radio Kerry is the full licensed service for the Kingdom county. It launched at midday on July 14th 1990 and broadcasts on 96.2-97.6MHz.
The first voice heard was Chief Executive Dan Collins (formerly of RTÉ) who introduced the station’s on- and off-air team.

The Kerry Community Radio Co-Op, the consortium awarded the licence, raised £300,000 to get the station on the air and was made up of local businessmen and community organisations.

The main studios were based on the ground floor of a building on Main Street, Tralee. The broadcast studio was visible to passers-by outside.
A second studio was located at the Killarney Shopping Centre.

Kerry’s terrain is mountainous which requires several transmitter sites to cover. The station broadcasts on high power to overcome some of the difficulties.

Programming is a mix of music aimed at an adult audience, and news and current affairs.
