Radiowaves.FM - A tribute site to Irish Radio

Radio Antrim was a pirate radio station which broadcast from just north of Belfast. It first appeared on test in July 1973 on 215m with Richard Black announcing the birth of Belfast’s first free radio station.

Radio Antrim was non-political in nature and broadcast a mix of local news and music.

The regular callsign for the station was:- “Testing, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. This is pirate station Radio Antrim, a non-political, non-commercial station broadcasting with a power of 17watts from Belfast, Northern Ireland.”

The station went off air shortly afterwards but returned after a year in 1974 broadcasting a mix of commercial pop music, oldies and country & western.

It eventually ceased broadcasting in November 1975.
