This is a recording of Mid West Radio, the pirate station broadcasting on 1334kHz from Ballyhaunis in Co Mayo, from the afternoon of May 2nd 1986. First, we hear from Chris Carroll (pictured) at 4.40pm. He is followed by Paul Claffey at just after 5pm.

This is a selection of recordings from Mid West Radio’s final day broadcasting as a pirate radio station in Mayo on December 30th 1988. All unlicensed stations were required to vacate the airwaves if they wished to attain one of the new licences that the government were making available in 1989.
